Have you heard about the “North Cape to the Rock 2013 Cycle Expedition”?  Husband and wife team, Dana and Alan Fisher from local Chichester business ‘Applecarte’ (Chichester-based website and graphic designers) will be cycling from Europe’s northernmost point, Lapland’s North Cape in the Arctic Circle to its Southernmost point, the Rock of Gibraltar in Spain, over 4000 miles away…and all in aid of a great local cause, St Wilfred’s Hospice in Chichester, West Sussex.  Dana says “St. Wilfrid’s Hospice in Chichester is an amazing charity to support.  We are fund raising for them as their services are provided free of charge, they’re not a part of the NHS and rely on public support to raise 86% of their annual running costs, which this year will exceed £5.8 million”.

Waterside Chiropractic is very proud to be sponsoring this amazing expedition.  Dana and Alan will be cycling through some very challenging landscapes and in all weathers.  Leaving on 1st June 2013, they will be flying to Honningsvåg, Norway, then cycle to Nord Kapp (North Cape) to start this epic journey. The tour will take in 12 European countries, leaving 24 hours of daylight and the freezing conditions of the Arctic to eventually finish under the blisteringly hot Spanish summer sun at the Rock of Gibraltar on the Costa de la Luz, a stones throw away from Africa.  Completely unsupported, they will have to carry everything that they need to undertake the challenge which they expect to take 45 days…camping and cooking gear, food, water, clothing, spare bicycle parts, first aid kit, maps, etc., they will have to carry absolutely everything themselves!  Not a journey for the faint-hearted as I am sure you will agree…and all for a very worthwhile cause.

If you would like to get involved and/or support Dana and Alan and help them on their journey, be that by sponsoring the tour, contributing kit, by collecting or making donations to St Wilfrid’s Hospice, or you would just like to find out more about this epic journey, then check out the tour website www.northcape-rock.com   You can also find out more about St Wilfrid’s Hospice and the valuable work and Specialist Palliative Care service that they provide to local people with advanced cancer, Motor Neurone Disease and other terminal illnesses, either in the Hospice or in their own homes, or donate directly to St Wilfrid’s Hospice, Chichester by visting the Hospice website www.stwh.co.uk
